2015 has been kind of a monumental year for the Seibel family. Between two new babies (both within two weeks of each other), a wedding, my parent’s 35th wedding anniversary, and my brother and his wife preparing to leave the States for a season, it’s pretty miraculous that me and all six of my siblings (and their significant others) were able to land in the same city for a few days.
The plan for this summer was to rent a house in the mountains for a family reunion to celebrate my parent’s anniversary. But as per usual, God had other plans…better plans…and gifted us with three new family members instead. So it’s kind of been one continuous party around here since May.
This week as my brother Gabe prepares to marry his bride Virginia, we set aside an evening to celebrate mom and dad’s 35 years together. We all pitched in and concocted kind of a Parenthood themed dinner under the lights. Also tacos and beer. And corn hole. Because this is a PARTY.
The only bummer is that when there are seven of you, the probability of everyone being at the same place at the same moment isn’t always in your favor. My brother Josiah had to work the evening of the party. He was up early doing all of our grocery shopping and stayed in the kitchen with me chopping veggies and schooling me on how to grill THE BEST FLANK STEAK EVER before he took off for his eight hour shift.
Aside from the absence of Brother #4 and my mom trying to hijack her own surprise anniversary party by taking off work AN HOUR EARLY and making us have to tell my dad so he could stall her for 45 minutes while we dragged more chairs around and fixed the strings of lights that kept trying to go out…it came together pretty perfectly.
I had so much fun taking these pictures of our family. I have many wonderful memories of this house, and this is definitely one of them. Happy Anniversary, mom and dad!
